OUR WHEELS
It all began for the 1st 4 of us, in the 4Runner. The rest ... well in their strollers.

One trip for Ric & Mike to Lingham  one trip for Bud to Killer Lake, one trip for Curtis thru the Brighton Hunting Area and the 1st 4 were hooked. The others ... well they came shortly after but the stories were similar.

Many $$$$$$ later this is where we are at. Lots of vehicles ... constantly being ungraded ( and repaired ). Enjoy the following pictures. We enjoyed making them .

1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 (aka BUSHWACKER ),

General details ... stock 4.2 L 6 cyl but with headers, Weber 38 carb, stock 4 sp.,  35"x15"x12.50" Dick Cepak mudders on 15"x8" American Racing aluminum wheels, 12000 lb. Titan winch / 80 ft of synthetic cable ( extra synthetic 50 ft ext.) with MetalWurks brushbar, inner snorkel to the glovebox with K&N air filter,  rear Lockrite locker, front ARB locker/compressor & "Longfield" birfields with strengthened chrome-moly front short axles, 4:56 Yukon gears, rebuilt transfer case with reinforcing bracket, SkyJacker 7000 shocks with 2" lift shackles, all new poly bushings, rebuilt power steering ( Toyota 4Runner p/s box, GM pump ), Optima red top battery, new 4 core radiator, aluminum windshield frame, compartment tailgate & Aqualu tub RHINO lined top & bottom, Grant steering wheel, new clutch, aluminum 2" wheel spacers, new front steel fenders,  tube rock sliders, new HD tie-rod/relay rod  & balljoints, all new SS bolts, latches front to back, new turn front & rear signals/brake lights with HD tail light guards, back half rewired , new gear reduction starter, parking brake, Accura Vigor seats front separated by a compartment console, 2 Lumina seats rear,  Citizen CB, stereo with waterproof speakers, "lite boltz" illuminating the rear license plate,  2 ammo tool boxes, one ammo louved box for the onboard ARB air compressor , axe, spare front hub. spare f/r driveshafts, high lift jack mounted inboard, fuel regulator....  body painted Toyota code 653 olive brown and beige , code 464 to match the mud !!!!

The engine got its needed restoration this winter (06-07 & again in 07-08)! Rings, new valves & seals, bearings, camshaft, oil pump ( gaskets of course), reground crankshaft. The block was acid washed, the head reground & a "plastic" gastank  (but only 50L !!) was added. An additional rear  stock rollbar & extended Safari Family bikini top was added in 2008  as were rear sealed rear LED tailights . A HEI distributor may be on by the summer of 2009. ...lots of $$$ so far.

Future upgrades ... a rear tonneau cover to protect the interior from mud/dirt as well as completing the restoration of the orginal hardtop & doors, sound proofing the tub & top.

1984 CJ Jeep ( aka "Nasty CJ") Chevy 4.3L 6 cyl. carburetor., 5 sp., Timberline 33" mudders, 8000 lb. winch, 4:11's, front & rear LOCKRITE lockers, twin stick transfer case, 3 inch suspension lift and 1 inch puck body lift, SkyJacker 7000 shocks, strengthed rear axles, body work by Mike and painted John Deere green. It has been 2 more years towards completion ... that was a lot of beer that flowed in the meantime.

Steve shows that you don't need to know how to use a wrench ( though he DOES), but just have to have a keen eye & be quick with the cheque book. This is his 2nd offroad Jeep, the 1st was a CJ7 ( Old Thumper). As he aged, he required a softer, more supple ride ( I mean his truck !!!) ... so, the TJ .. & now the details ... 2002 Jeep TJ Sport. Patriot Blue with Black Hard and Soft top (both w/ tinted windows) 4.0L Inline 6 cylinders, 5 Speed, NP231 t-case. Dana 30 front (open) Ford 8.8 rear (PowerTrax locker) 4.10 gears, and disc brakes all around. ARB safari snorkel. Power Aid throttle body spacer. Jet Chip performance module.
